Arnoldi began to work in metal toward the end of the 1970s, first casting parts of trees in bronze. Working
with metal and other textured materials became an important part of his oeuvre alongside an impressive
body of paintings and prints.
By the 1980s Arnoldi earned a place as one of Southern California’s most widely known artists. The
decade represented a period of experimentation with the incorporation of richly saturated pigments in his
work and an expansion of works created on canvas that continued into the 1990s and the 21st century.
